If you have MTP mode and try connecting your mobile to laptop then your PC might not detect the phone. Just use any file explorer and copy or cut the DCIM folder, create a new folder and just paste. Add a comment. Active Oldest Votes. It can be incredibly convenient to use Android to download files and forgo a computer for things like editing a document for work, adding to a presentation for class or downloading a photo that you want to use as a wallpaper.
The problem is, it's not always clear where the file you just downloaded was saved on your phone or tablet. When Android first launched, finding files was especially cumbersome due to the fact that not every Android device came with a file manager app.
A lot has changed since then. Most Android devices now come with some sort of file manager preinstalled, and for those that don't, there's a better alternative anyway.
Left: Files app on a Pixel 3. By far the easiest way to find downloaded files on Android is to look in your app drawer for an app called Files or My Files. Regardless of which device, once you find and open the file manager, use it to look for the Downloads folder and open it. Downloads can be viewed using a file browser. Wondering if an internal downloads folder will be included in future Firefox mobile versions.
Something like that app but just the downloads folder. This doesn't tell me which directory to look for downloads in, and why they don't appear in the default Android downloads folder. The solution you propose is fine for power users who aren't afraid to use a file manager, but I think an average non-technical user A won't notice that there's an extra permission, and B will wonder why they can't find their downloads in the stock Downloads app.
